Disaster relief
Working through international relief agencies since 2001, Cardinal Health donated more than $150 million in medical products, supplies and funding to provide disaster relief.Product donations
When disaster strikes, the Cardinal Health Foundation works through key international relief agencies including AmeriCares, Heart to Heart, MAP International, Operation USA and World Vision to donate much-needed medical supplies to communities who need them. Through this approach, we’ve responded to domestic natural tragedies including Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the 2008 California wildfires, as well as international tragedies including the 2004 tsunami, the 2008 cyclone in Myanmar, South Asia and the 2008 earthquake in China.Regulations and restrictions
Our product donations program is governed by strict federal and international laws, regulations and guidelines. For this reason, we only work through a group of approved charitable or humanitarian relief organizations selected to meet demanding criteria in managing, administering, shipping and monitoring donations received from large, international healthcare corporations like Cardinal Health. These organizations are IRS-approved charities committed to humanitarian relief and have extensive history in managing liability issues such as customs, tax, litigation and the environment.
All Cardinal Health product donations must be made either directly through one of these approved organizations or an established partner of one of these organizations. Cardinal Health cannot donate products directly to a customer. Any inference of product donation in exchange for business is strictly prohibited.

Employee and company contributions
We also encourage Cardinal Health employees to extend support to key disaster relief efforts. We provide a 50% match for employee donations to key international relief agencies including the American Red Cross, AmeriCares, CARE USA, MAP International, Oxfam America, UNICEF and World Vision.Cardinal Health also works through international relief organizations to coordinate all product and financial donations related to disaster relief.
